Entertainment During a Pandemic
No one really knows how different entertainment industries are going to recover after the covid 19 pandemic, but it's pretty much certain that eventually, things will go back to normal. The question is though, which industries have suffered the biggest hits? Which ones are just fine and which ones are barely holding on?
Hollywood
This was going to be another big year for movies especially movies with female leads. We were going to get Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Mulan, and Birds of Prey, but only Birds of Prey got out before the pandemic hit. Meanwhile, all of these companies are pushing their new streaming services which is the only thing keeping Hollywood alive, as theaters were forced to shut down and have struggled to reopen with the rapidly growing cases. People are comfortable doing many activities except go to the movies, even though theaters are cleaner than ever before with new ventilation systems and very strict policies. It's a difficult situation to navigate especially for companies like Disney who had to figure out how to start filming moves again and release movies even though they wouldn't make nearly as much money and would most likely anger shareholders and croppers. While many experts from the University of Miami think that theaters are dead, I would argue that they are going to be just fine. Taking your family to a movie has always been a great family activity and 2019 saw some of the biggest box office numbers ever with the most billion-dollar movies ever released in a single year. And Cobra Kai was finally put on Netflix where it exploded in popularity so that's a plus.

Sports
Don't worry sports fans everything will be just fine. This one going to be shorter because sports have actually done quite well. It has been hard for many such as the NFL and the NBA to make sure their players are following the guidelines necessary and some people just don't do that, unfortunately, causing many of the players to get covid and have the games be delayed. They can get past that though, and sports are still broadcast all over the world and the ratings have actually never been stronger. While you might not be able to go and see the game, except for some teams that have limited capacity available, many of the seasons have still been able to continue and have been quite successful when talking about tv ratings.

Theme Parks
Another industry that obviously took a major hit, but has been able to come back. The pandemic actually allowed for important renovations to be made and Universal Studios Japan was able to complete their new Nintendo Land which has successfully launched. It has been interesting to get conflicting reports, especially from Dinsey. Sometimes you'll see pictures where it's a ghost town and other times it's packed. Maybe they have let too many people in, but it's hard to tell. I just can't wait to visit the new star wars land though once the pandemic is over.

Video Games
It has done super well, and it's not hard to see why. While new games and the new Xbox and PlayStation haven't sold well, games that have been around for a while but have been released for free are stronger than ever. Video game streamers are now able to make tons of money as people from all over the world watch them play their favorite games. Yeah, it's doing okay.

Music
This one is a mix of good and bad. Spotify is bigger than ever, but concerts are dead. The larger venues are all going to be alright I think, but it's the small theaters or ballrooms that don't have the larger acts playing that might be gone soon, which is a shame because those can be really fun to go to. The Flaming Lips have given everyone personal bubbles during concerts, but that was only for a few shows. It's not clear when concerts are going to be able to continue regularly, but I hope it's soon.
