Entertainment During a Pandemic

Image
No one really knows how different entertainment industries are going to recover after the covid 19 pandemic, but it's pretty much certain that eventually, things will go back to normal. The question is though, which industries have suffered the biggest hits? Which ones are just fine and which ones are barely holding on? Hollywood This was going to be another big year for movies especially movies with female leads. We were going to get Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Mulan, and Birds of Prey, but only Birds of Prey got out before the pandemic hit. Meanwhile, all of these companies are pushing their new streaming services which is the only thing keeping Hollywood alive, as theaters were forced to shut down and have struggled to reopen with the rapidly growing cases. People are comfortable doing many activities except go to the movies, even though theaters are cleaner than ever before with new ventilation systems and very strict policies. It's a difficult situation to navigate especia...

Rock Music...Dead?

Image
I think I have a pretty good hot take here, modern rap music kind of sucks. I'm there some rap artists that I genuinely love but then there are others that really bother me with their constant objectification of women, and racism (I'm looking at you Lil Yachty). This is why I have not been brainwashed by thinking these people are talented by these "new" trends and traits that modern music tends to have. This is why in my opinion, 2020 was a great year for music. Why? Rock music is making a bit of a comeback with artists like Machine Gun Kelley, Hayley Williams, Beabadoobee, and even Miley Cyrus producing pretty good albums. Even Juice World had a bit of a rock vibe on his latest and sadly last album. However, I appear to be the only person in the world that thinks rock music will be just fine for multiple reasons. It has always evolved over the decades. Rock isn't dead as many people might say, but it justs sounds different than what they're used to. So I...

How many concerts have you been to in your life? I only ask because I myself have been to many, but as for others, it feels like they have either never been to one, or at most they've only attended three. Now you'll always have bands and pop artists that will sell lots of tickets, but there are still lots of artists and bands that are having a hard time getting people to go to shows in smaller venues. The question is, Why don't people attend concerts anymore? I have one of the big answers right here. They're way too expensive most of the time. According to The Wall Street Journal, "9 out of 10 of the highest-grossing concert tours this year ticket prices were over 100 dollars." And that's just for your average seat, If you want to go to the pit just don't, it's probably not worth the money. I soon discovered though that it can be much worse. Why Does Sonya Look Like That!?!

Pong . We’ve come a long way since then. Developers have created some of the most iconic characters of all time through video games. Super Mario , Crash Bandicoot , Spyro the Dragon , Kratos the God of War , Lara Croft are just a few of these examples. Gone are the days of a white blob going back and forth between two white paddles on a black screen. No! Video games c an now even be full of narratives with amazing gameplay and beautiful graphics. Photo Credit: Play Station However, there are some aspects of video games that still could improve to make games even better. Fewer glitches perhaps, less toxicity online, and maybe less sexism! While some games have a great amount of diversity and female characters, Tomb Raider being a great example nowadays, it wasn’t always like this and there are still some problems. I believe that a great example of sexism in video games would be Mortal Kombat . I mean, just look at some of the women in these games. Characters like Sonya Blade and Kitana...
